About one year ago, I discovered something that had been buried deep inside me for the last 33 years and that was yearning to break out: the hidden actor. I followed that impulse and enrolled in one of New York’s finest acting conservatories. As I look back and reflect on my first term, I can’t help but recognize how much my life has changed. It was one of the most profound experiences I’ve ever had.
Throughout the journey, I was inspired to keep a daily journal to track my growth and development. I’ve since turned my “memoirs” into a “Masterclass” presentation that chronicles my first year as a student in the conservatory. It is raw and uncensored – taking the audience on a journey through the highs and lows, the ups and downs, the struggles and the triumphs – so that one might see how much effort and commitment goes into the craft of becoming an actor. It offers a rare glimpse into this demanding, yet incredibly rewarding profession.
It’s also educational. Along the way, I discovered how the tools and techniques of actors can be used by lawyers in the courtroom to bring the human element to the jury. However, the topics covered are so universal that they transcend the courtroom and permeate every aspect of human life.
The entire “Masterclass” is available to view online for free here. Feel free to share it.
